Visibility of Road Markings on Wet Road Surfaces
Road markings, notably lane markers, are often only poorly visible when the road is wet. This is particularly a problem at night on unlit roads. Raised markers with corner-cube reflectors perform best as regards night-time visibility on wet, unlit roads. Followed by other types of reflectorized raised markers, corrugated lines, thermoplasts and finally road paint. For daytime visibility the sequence is more or less reversed.
