A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Plan Proposals, Orange (New Jersey): Master Plan Report 7
The report, together with six preceding survey reports, is intended as the city's official new master plan, replacing an earlier plan prepared in 1960. An innovation proposed for the city's deteriorated housing areas is neighborhood improvement district zoning, under which overall population densities would be set, but not specific housing types or use boundaries. Improvements to local streets and added access ramps related to the new interstate highway are proposed. Expanded playgrounds and other community facilities are projected within the framework of a feasible six-year capital improvements program. (Author)
