The proposed project will replace the existing bridge structures over the St. Joseph River between the cities of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph. Certain environmental impacts that appear to be inevitable may include the displacement of existing dwellings and commercial properties, an impact on the Marina, possibly with the effect that the Marina will be closed, acquisition of a small parcel of the city of Benton Harbor river-front park, and some sedimentation which will probably occur with detrimental impacts upon natural and human landscape characteristics.
