Planning of Public Housing Sites in Bangkok
In Bangkok, Thailand, land suitable for developing public housing is becoming increasingly scarce to obtain, at least at a reasonable (i.e. affordable) price. The goal of the study was to select and evaluate locations for public housing, in relation to the priorities of the target-group. The report covers four aspects: (1) urban development of Bangkok and related problems; (2) the land- and housing-market, and the role of public and private sectors; (3) evaluation of the efforts of the National Housing Authority to fulfil the needs and wishes of low-income people; (4) a strategy for appraisal and selection of public housing sites, by finding an optimum between suitability and costs.
