Midwest Appropriate Technology Small Grants Program. Final Report: Solar Retrofit/Bridgeview Park Facility

A project is summarized which involved the weatherization and insulation of a previously unheated frame park building and the installation of a Trombe wall to provide passive solar heating. Original plans and modifications of the plans are discussed. The buildings was fully insulated and improved drainage was provided around the buildings. Air locks were installed around all doors. A natural ventilation system is used in conjunction with ceiling fans. Smaller energy-efficient windows were installed and timer-operated exterior doors cover the Trombe wall. An energy-efficient landscape plan was also developed. Future plans are discussed. (ERA citation 07:021377)
