Evaluation of Videowindows PLV Viewing System
A low-cost alternative to the Photolog Laser Videodisc retrieval station is described for image-base and pavement ratings. A video-overlay-board based PLV viewing system or Mini-PLV provides virtually the same functionality and acceptable image resolution for all applicants described previously with the pavement rating. Not only does the Mini-PLV lower hardware costs by almost two thirds from $31,000 to $11,000, but it also significantly reduces the system footprint, thereby providing a true desktop image-retrieval system.
