Land Use Planning: Swedish Experiences and the Third World
The purpose of the present study is to interpret why planning has not worked in the Third World. This is done not by looking primarily at the Third World scene. Rather, in light of the problems faced, the study sets out by looking at a context where urban planning seems to have worked - Sweden. The purpose of looking at the Swedish experience has been to derive some necessary conditions for urban planning to work according to the underlying principles. These necessary conditions are then set against the Third World a priori conditions. (Copyright (c) Swedish Council for Building Research Stockholm 1987.)
