Stadswal Tiel: Variant-Oplossingen voor Verbetering van de Waalbandijk (City Wall Tiel: Alternative Solutions for Improvement of Waalban Dike)
In May 1981 the Polder district of Tielerwaard presented a plan for improvement of the Waalban Dike in Tiel. The plan involved the construction of a new wide dike in front of the old city wall. The city wall still serves as water dam. Many were opposed to this plan. As a result, a number of letters of objection were submitted, also from the Environmental Working Group Tiel and Its Environs and from B. Nijholt. The latter presented an alternative plan, according to which the old wall would retain its function as water dam but which plan had not been tested for its technical feasibility. This report discusses the study on the improvement of the city wall in Tiel in its function as water rampart.
