Petroglyph National Monument Annual Performance Plan, Fiscal Year 2002
On June 27, 1990, Petroglyph National Monument was added to the National Park System under Public Law 101-313 to preserve and protect the more than 20,000 prehistoric and historic petroglyphs and other significant cultural and natural resources that are on the west side of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The 7,232 acre monument is the first national park system area specifically established to protect and interpret petroglyphs in their setting for the benefit and enjoyment of present and future generations.
