Because Jefferson Parish lies entirely within the Louisiana Coastal Zone, the impact of the State's Coastal Zone Management Program is vitally important to the future of the Jefferson Parish. In recognition of that impact, the Jefferson Parish Council established the Jefferson Parish Citizens Coastal Zone Management Advisory Committee. This 22-member committee was selected in order to represent the multiple interests of the Jefferson Parish Coastal Zone in the development of a local coastal management plan.
