Emerging Technologies in Geotechnical Engineering
The papers included in the volume were presented in five sessions at the TRB 75th Annual Meeting. The first three papers are from the session on Neural Networks in Geotechnical Engineering. The second group, four papers, is from the session on Field Verification of Numerical Modeling. The third group, three papers, is from the session on Reliability-Based Design in geotechnical Engineering. The fourth group, 10 papers, is on visualization and digital imaging. Of these, the first nine papers were presented at a session on Digital Imaging and Visualization Techniques in Highway Applications. The last paper in this group describes a new interpretive approach applicable to noninvasive shear wave velocity profiling of soil deposits. The fifth group, five papers, is from a session on Methods of 3-D Subsurface Characterization.
