Corpus Christi Beach: A Coastal Management Beach Access Pilot Study
For this pilot project, a complex area was selected which involves not only the full spectrum of natural constraints of beach development, but also the intricate metropolitan urban aspects that had to be recognized and taken into account in developing standards and guidelines for orderly growth. The area most appropriate for this initial effort was the Corpus Christi Beach section in the City of Corpus Christi, and a program was initiated by the Department and the City of Corpus Christi to examine the range of problems and to develop solutions and guidelines at least in concept. The project was carried out over a period of 10 months, and this final project report presents the principal observations and findings.
