The 16 peer-reviewed papers in the volume were presented at the 1993 Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board in two sessions entitled 'Pavement Management at the State and Local Levels' and sponsored by the TRB Committee on Pavement Management Systems. Irrgang and Maze report on a survey to assess the state of pavement management as practiced by state highway agencies. Lee et al. summarize the development of simplified predictive performance models for pavement management purposes. Using a dynamic programming formulation and a mechanistic pavement performance model, Chua et al. present a dynamic decision model for pavement management.
