Phase 1. Architectural Reconnaissance and Survey, Wayne County Nonstructural Project, Wayne County, West Virginia
The project is the Phase I, Architectural Reconnaissance and Survey of historic resources located along the Tug Fork River in Wayne County, West Virginia, for the Huntington District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington, West Virginia. The Corps proposes a plan for flood control in the areas affected by the April 1977 flood on the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River. The Project Scope of Work includes the following; Reconnaissance literature and records search, inventory of potential historic structures in the project area; A cultural history of Wayne County and the Tug Fork Basin, an architectural history of the project area, and specific histories of the communities of Crum, Fort Gay and Stepptown; West Virginia Structure Inventory Forms for all structures recommended for further evaluation; Contact with the West Virginia Department of Highways about the current status of Corridor G culture resources studies and incorporation of pertinent cultural resources data into the final report; Letter Report following field work on results and interpretations for use in the interim coordination with the SHPO; Draft Report for the District and other agency review; Final Report.
