Design Standards No. 13: Embankment Dams. Chapter 17. Soil-Cement Slope Protection
The purpose of this Design Standard is to document current guidelines for selecting, designing, and specifying soil-cement upstream slope protection for embankment dams and dikes. Protective upstream facings of soil-cement have proven to be durable, safe and economical slope protection since the construction of the Bonny Reservoir Test Section in 1951. Soil-cement facings have been constructed on 13 embankment dams designed by the Bureau of Reclamation since that time, thus providing an opportunity to improve the technology and to accumulate a large performance data base.
