Interstate Route 75, From Andytown in Broward County, Florida to the Palmetto Expressway Near Miami in Dade County, Florida
The project involves the construction of a 22 mile segment of six and eight lane divided Interstate 75 expressway between U.S. Route 27 at Andytown in Broward County and the Palmetto Expressway, northwest of Miami, in Dade County. The most significant environmental impacts caused by the proposed project are the necessary takings of privately owned open space lands for highway use and the possible acceleration of already planned urbanization of the area encouraged by the improved accessibility. Adverse impact of the project on the environment can be kept to a minimum by highway design and construction procedures to minimize water pollution and water flow facility disruption during and following construction. The construction of the proposed project, depending on the final selected corridor alternate, will require displacement of from 5 to 26 residences and from 12 to 16 businesses and farms for which relocation assistance would be provided. Some mobile homes will also require relocations. Beneficial environmental impacts include improved transportation service and safety for the public, minimization of uncontrolled development to the west, and provision in the transportation corridor for future mass transit facilities.
