Combined Effects of Blast and Fire on Personnel Survivability
This paper deals with the analysis of hazards to sheltered personnel in a blast-fire environment produced by the detonation of a 1-MT nuclear weapon near the ground surface. The three personnel shelters included: (1) a conventional framed basement, (2) a conventional basement having a reinforced concrete slab instead of a wood floor overhead, and (3) an expedient, pole type below-grade shelter.
