Historic Structure Report, Architectural Data Section. 'Aspet', Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site, Cornish, New Hampshire
Aspet, the home of Augustus Saint-Gaudens, is a transitional Georgian-Federal style structure built circa 1795. Saint-Gaudens rented Aspet in 1885 and purchased the property in 1891. The National Park Service obtained the property in 1966. The purpose of this historic structure report is to give a detailed analysis of all building elements, their historic appearance and condition, and their present appearance and condition. This report is intended to serve as a guide for restoration, as well as for the maintenance of the house. The primary aims of this report are to identify those elements of the house that date from the period of Saint-Gaudens' occupancy and to delineate those elements added to the house after his death in 1907. Illustrations, drawings and inventories are provided.
