A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
A description of the specialized signatures of fire conditions, along with a description of the various available fire detectors, is presented. Some special problems of fire detectors such as reliability and maintenance are discussed. The paper closes with a discussion of specialized applications of fire detection to open plan office buildings, atriums, schools, buildings with smoke control systems and the use of detectors in corridors.
