Items of consideration in the development of Atmore's Land Development Plan were: existing land use and trends, topography and natural features, subsoil characteristics, utilities, transportation system, community facilities, future population and economic trends and potentials. The Land Development Plan proposes a land use arrangement which will provide a logical and workable relationship between the various categories of land use. The Plan is intended to accommodate the City's needs for the coming two decades. The Sketch Thoroughfare Plan was formulated after a thorough analysis of: the existing street system, present and future traffic patterns and loads, and the relationship of the Thoroughfare Plan to other elements of the Comprehensive Plan. The Plan provides for a proposed system of major streets designed to meet existing and anticipating traffic needs for the planning period. (Author)
