Steel Optimization and Substitution for 1980 Oldsmobile Omega X-Body Car
This report studies the potential of weight reduction for a 1980 Oldsmobile Omega X-body four-door sedan through steel optimization and substitution of newer steels. The study shows that 74 pounds can be removed from this vehicle using current steel technology. An additional 100-pound weight saving can be achieved through the use of newer steels in the 1990 time span.
