FRP-Concrete Composite Column and Pile Jacket Splicing. Phase 2
A new and innovative use of fiber composites has been introduced which consists of concrete-filled FRP tubes as structural columns, piles and piers. The tube acts as the poor form, protective and confining jacket, shear stirrups, and flexural reinforcement. Feasibility of this system was shown under Phase I of this project. Phase II has been focused on several issues including; shear capacity of hybrid strength and ductility of column, optimization of hybrid columns, and acoustic emission teting of hybrid systems. Results of extensive tests and analytical work have been reported in detail.
