Lac Qui Parle Flood Control Project Master Plan for Public Use Development and Resource Management
The Lac qui Parle control project is located in west central Minnesota near the South Dakota border, The existing project includes dams at the outlets of Lac qui Parle and Marsh Lakes; a diversion channel for Chippewa River floodwaters; necessary alterations of highways, railroads, and bridges in the vicinity; and channel improvements along the Minnesota River. Project considerations include the need for clearing and snagging operations between Lac qui Parle Dam and Granite Falls; maintenance and improvement of nearby recreation facilities; provision of an interpretive program; a new recreation area at the west side of Marsh Lake Dam; and improved access for the handicapped.
