This manual attempts to provide the reader with basic information on the types of painting most frequently performed on Bureau of Reclamation water resource development projects. Thus, many interesting topics, especially the numerous shop procedures and materials best suited to other industries, receive little or no mention. Rather, the manual stresses common specifications paints, conventional good cleaning and painting practices, and the equipment and techniques of inspection. The book is directed primarily toward Bureau engineers and inspectors for whom painting is an occasional responsibility. It provides the rationale for many construction specifications requirements that these persons must administer and enforce. This revision follows the last edition (1961) by more than 10 years.
