The project is designed to provide an adequate traffic carrying facility to serve anticipated travel desires in 1990 between urban areas, improve access to recreational areas, and remove through traffic from the streets of the cities and towns bypassed. Negative impact factors include loss to governmental units of taxable land required for right-of-way, increased noise and air pollution in areas adjacent to the planned facility. Interference with and necessary relocation of homes and businesses within the corridor, and separation of farms and properties into two or more parcels, thus reducing the efficiency of the business and adding to the inconvenience of operation.
