Bracing is an effective aseismic element of a steel frame, and it is known that the dynamic response behavior of a braced frame can become extremely complicated under the lateral load due to the deterioration of restoring force which follows the buckling of compressive bracing. In this paper, in order to improve the aseismic characteristics of such braced frames, a special bracing called 'bent bracing' having stable restoring force characteristics is applied to the braced frame, and the effect is studied both experimentally and analytically. Bent-bracing has the initial deflection provided at the center of bracing by previously bending the section.
