Application of High-Strength Concrete to High-Rise Building
High-strength concrete, having a specific design strength of 360 kg/cu cm (nominal strength of 400 kg/cu cm for ready-mixed concrete), was utilized for construction of 21 story high-rise reinforced concrete building, and the quality of concrete was as follows: Superplasticizer was added when agitator trucks left the concrete plant, and the high-strength concrete showed stable value of slump, air content and compressive strength at the site; Very high pressure in vertical pipes was observed for the high-strength concrete transported by a concrete pump, compared with the pressure of normal-strength concrete.
