Evaluation of Polyester Resin, Epoxy, and Cement Grouts for Embedding Reinforcing Steel Bars in Hardened Concrete
Rehabilitation of hydraulic structures usually includes removal and replacement of deteriorated concrete. Dowels are normally used to anchor the new concrete to the existing concrete and to position vertical and horizontal reinforcing steel in the replacement concrete. The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the effectiveness of cement, epoxy, and polyester resin grouts used to embed reinforcing steel bars in hardened concrete under a variety of placing and curing conditions. The following parameters were determined for each grout: physical characteristics of the grouts; effects of temperature and moisture on early service performance; long-term pullout strength under varying curing conditions; creep strain of grout under sustained loading in both wet and dry environments; and effects of hole roughness and cleanliness on grout performance. Anchor grouting systems, Concrete anchors, Creep, Drilling, Cement, Epoxy composites, Pullout strength, Underwater, Polyester resins.
