Effects of Traffic-Induced Vibrations on Bridge-Deck Repairs
This synthesis will be of special interest to engineers concerned with placement of concrete for construction or repair of bridge decks. Recommendations are provided for restoring, patching, and widening bridge decks in the presence of traffic. Engineers need to know whether a bridge must be closed while deck repairs are being carried out or to what extent traffic should be controlled during placement and curing of the concrete. This report of the Transportation Research Board concludes that traffic can be maintained on the bridge while concrete is placed in deck repairs, overlays, widenings, or replacements.
