Planning for Urban Fishing and Waterfront Recreation
This document is intended to help planners and developers enhance fishing and waterfront recreation in urban areas by preserving existing high-quality aquatic areas, restoring degraded areas, and creating new areas where appropriate. Background information about environmental, fish and wildlife values, the nature of aquatic ecosystems, urbanization effects on these systems, planning and management implications and the importance of aquatic resource considerations in urban-suburban planning are discussed. Also discussed is planning for urban fishing and related waterfront recreation. Zoning, liability, safety, and other considerations are treated also.
