Agenda for Architectural Research - 1982
An overview of the building industry, architecture, and architectural education and research is provided. The processes of design and construction are examined, with emphasis on design methods, building evaluation, and the use of computers in architecture. Building habitability is addressed. Topics considered include: earth-covered environments, the interaction of thermal and lighting environments, and the impact of occupant manipulation on the performance of mechanical systems in buildings. Also explored are issues related to human security and safety, such as: indoor air quality, radon-222 pollution, and the impact of automated office equipment. Methods for conserving resources are reviewed and structural, material, and equipment systems are discussed.
