Soil Classification and Identification
After extensive literature studies and expert approval, the Laboratory Committee of the Swedish Geotechnical Society presents, in this laboratory manual, proposals for the classification and identification of soils. Efforts have been made to adapt the proposals to international praxis. The principal deviation from rules hitherto applied to classification and identification concerns the limit between the fractions gravel and cobbles, and between the fractions cobbles and boulders. The same fraction limits have been chosen as those applied in other Nordic countries.
