Mechanistic-Empirical Modeling and Design Model Development of Geosynthetic Reinforced Flexible Pavements
The work described in this report has resulted in the development of a generic design model for geosynthetic reinforced flexible pavements. The model is expressed solely in terms of equations relating reinforcement benefit to pavement and geosynthetic input design parameters. These equations are based on the results of the predictions of reinforcement benefit from a finite element based mechanistic-empirical model from over 465 analyzed cases. The mechanistic-empirical model and the design model were calibrated from test section results for reinforced pavements presented in Perkins (1999a).
