Gravity Flow of Particulate Materials in Bunkers
The flow of sand in bunkers was investigated. Sensitive load cells were used to measure wall normal stresses and in most cases wall shear stresses; X-radiography was employed to monitor the deformation of the fill, without appreciable sample disturbance, in small scale model bunkers. Axisymmetric and plane strain bunkers were examined mainly using coarse sand as fill.
