Behaviour of Steel-Concrete Composite Frames in Fire Conditions. Literature Study
This literature study has been written as a first introduction to the topic of the behavior of steel-concrete composite frames in fire conditions. Individual topics of the study include the change in material and stiffness properties of steel and concrete, thermal elongation of structural members, restraining effects of the surrounding structures, the effects of thermal gradients, internal stresses and deflections, the effects of the slenderness ratio of structural members, the effects of connections between structural members, and the effect of the load ratio in fire design. The main conclusion drawn from the articles included in this study is that during a fire there is considerable redistribution of forces in structures. A most important role is played by the composite action of the steel beam and the concrete slab.
