Bridge Girder Webs Subjected to Horizontal Loads
In construction of plate girders, when no ground supported falsework is used, metal brackets bolted to the web of the exterior girders are used to support construction loads. The objective of this study was to investigate the web stresses and deflections which occur as a result of using temporary construction brackets. To achieve such an objective, a threefold investigation has been conducted, namely experimental, analytical and field testing on actual bridges under construction. (Author)
