Constitutive Relations of Coal and Coal Measure Rocks. Volume I. Interrelationship of Mechanical, Index and Geologic Properties of Coal Measure Rock
Cores of coal measure rocks from five mines across the United States were tested for mechanical, index, and mineralogic properties. About 600 samples were tested to determine 15 mechanical property parameters, 7 index parameters, and 30 geologic parameters. The results were analyzed for their statistical distributions, and bivariate and multivariate, linear and nonlinear correlations were attempted for these groups. Significant correlations were found for some of the parameters. On the basis of these statistics, predictive models are postulated for the mechanical properties on the basis of index and geologic parameters.
