Experimental and practical experience indicates that blasting with drilled-in charges is an interesting method for localized cutting and partial demolition of concrete structures. For the time being, however, lay-on charges can be used only in special circumstances, and these lay-on charges should preferably be shaped charges. It might also be possible to use explosives for fragmentation when concrete is to be reused. The report highlights the present state of knowledge in the area of concrete blasting. Special emphasis is laid on research and development results during the last decade. Total demolition of buildings with explosives, which is an accepted method, is not dealt with.
