A Cultural Resources Survey of Mineral King, Sequoia-Kings Canyon National Parks, Tulare County, California
The Mineral King region was added to Sequoia National Park in 1978. A month long reconnaissance survey of the new acquisition was conducted to aid in management planning, by assessing the archeological resources in the area and the need for further study. Two prehistoric sites and four isolated artifact localities were recorded. In addition, nine previously recorded sites were revisited. Eighteen historic sites were found. Most were relics associated with the mining activity of the 1870's and 1880's. The report recommends the Mineral King historic sites be nominated to the National Register of Historic Sites as a district.
