Repair of Damaged Bridge Girders with Carbon-Fiber-Reinforced Polymer 'CFRP' Laminates, Summary Report
The objectives of this project are to: (1) investigate the feasibility and performance of an innovative repair using carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates to already damaged concrete and prestressed concrete girders; (2) investigate experimentally and analytically CFRP laminates performance and their potential debonding; (3) investigate the effectiveness of using the transverse U-wrap to anchor and mitigate the longitudinal CFRP debonding problem; (4) investigate several configurations of CFRP longitudinal and transverse laminates in repair; and (5) develop a recommended number and/or spacing of the CFRP U-Wrap for different girder's dimensions and surface area of CFRP laminate.
