Recycling of Bituminous Shoulders: Mixture and Asphalt Evaluation
Recycled bituminous materials have proven economical when compared to the costs involved in constructing a pavement from all new materials. Long term performance comparisons have not been developed to illustrate the long term maintenance requirements. This report is the first of two reports detailing the examination of recycled mixes to predict long term performance. Two reclaimed pavements and two additional aged materials were selected. Procedures are developed for selecting the type and amount of recycling agent to minimize compatability problems and not necessitate special handling problems.
