A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Byoekologiske initiativer. (Urban ecological initiatives)
The aim of the project was to gather, discuss and inform about descriptions of activities, and experiences gained, in relation to urban ecological initiatives in Denmark. These initiatives are described and a survey of the most significant articles on urban ecology is presented in addition to a list of bibliographical references on the subject. Urban ecology is defined as ''The environment of buildings' matter and energy flow, including the town's production and consumption of energy and resources and its production and disposal of waste products. This happens in conjunction with the environments of buildings' and their surroundings and the towns' citizens' living conditions and interplay with nature.'' The activities carried out by the ''Dansk Byplanlaboratorium'' (Danish Town Planning Laboratory) are briefly described. The publication contains data and photographs of projects, carried out in Denmark and abroad, that are related to urban ecology. (AB).
