Hospital Management Systems Demonstration: Final Report; Appendix R. Use Rate Recommendations for Michigan
The Acute Care Bed Need Methodology Project involves deliberate selection of rates of utilization of hospital care, and assigns responsibility for that selection to the Advisory Committee. In turn, this Committee has requested that the Bureau of Hospital Administration make recommendations to it regarding the appropriate level of utilization for hospital services in Michigan. The first part of this paper, therefore, outlines the Bureau's use rate recommendations. Decision rules for implementing the recommendations will also be discussed. Part II deals with an analysis by region of the effects such rates would likely have on the state.
