Procedures for Seismic Evaluation of Existing Buildings
The report addresses analytical procedures for predicting building damage due to an earthquake. The report presents modeling methods for analysis and procedures for establishing component capacities. The building was analyzed for both the 1994 Northridge earthquake and the NEHRP Map Zone 7 earthquake spectrum. Two of the analytical procedures specified in the ATC-33 50% Draft Guidelines have been used: (1) Linear Static Procedure, and (2) Nonlinear Static Procedure. These static procedures are verified using linear and nonlinear dynamic methods. The dynamic procedures include spectral and time-history analyses.
