Fiber Reinforced Mortar and Concrete. Sub-Project 1. Material Properties Cracking Tendency of Fiber Reinforced Concrete at Plastic Shrinkage
The report presents the results from an investigation on the influence of different types (Dramix, EE, Dolanit, Harbourite, Krenit and Polycrete) and amounts of fiber regarding the cracking tendency in concrete at plastic shrinkage. The results show that fiber reinforcement in general gave a considerable reduction in the crack widths compared to both nonreinforced and wire mesh concrete. Plastic fibers had a more favorable effect on the cracking tendency than the same volume of steel fibers (0.5%). The results from the two steel fiber types which were investigated showed no significant variation. Except for one type, the plastic fibers also had very similar behavioral characteristics.
