Reorganizing the Building Process: The Holistic Approach
Currently building practice is based on separate design and implementation, competitive bidding, on-site building and breakdown of tasks into impractical activities. This methodoly produces several problems. The trends in the business environment of construction indicate clearly that the prevailing organization cannot perform optimally in the future. Thus, the aim of this study was to define the most appropriate generic structure of the overall building process organization for the Western countries in the future. It was anticipated that a more or less fundamental restructuring of the building industry is needed in the long term.
