Flood Proofing
Flood proofing is a combination of changes or the addition of features to individual buildings, structures or properties to reduce or eliminate flood damage. It is important that flood proofing be recognized as one tool among several that can be used in a comprehensive program of flood plain management. This Technical Release is issued as a guide for planning personnel. Its purpose is to give an overview of points to be considered by the planner when contemplating flood proofing as a means to reduce flood damages.
