Four projects undertaken as an Affordable Housing Demonstration as part of the Joint Venture for Affordable Housing are described in case study reports. The case studies illustrate ways to reduce housing costs through regulatory reform and the use of innovative planning and construction techniques. Described in each case study are the community, the builder's experience, and project characteristics and history. The cost savings from the use of the various procedural, planning, development, and construction changes are calculated and reported in detail where possible. Included as case studies are projects in Birmingham, Ala.; Knox County, Tenn.; Lincoln, Neb.; and Sioux Falls, S.Dak. Illustrations are provided.
