The Electron Project No. 2495 is located on the Puyallup River in Pierce County, Washington, near the towns of Kapowsin and Orting and consists of a 12 foot high 200 foot long timber dam with flash-boards, diverting part of the flow to a concrete intake structure; a 10.1 mile long wooden flume, a forebay; four penstocks; a concrete powerhouse with four generating units with a total capacity of 25,500 kw; and appurtenant facilities. The 66-year period of operation was reported to have had a minimal impact on the recreational and environmental values of the project, with the possible exception of the fishery resources. The Applicant believes that no adverse environmental effects will result from the proposed action -- issuance of a license for continued operation.
