Bucks Harbor Navigation Project, Machiasport, Maine
The recommended project is designed to improve the commercial fishing capability at Bucks Harbor, Washington County, Maine. The harbor is on the west side of Machias Bay, about eight miles south of Machias, Maine, and about 25 miles from the Canadian border. The proposed improvement comprises of dredging and eleven acre anchorage, eight feet deep along the southwesterly side of Bucks Harbor. There are no long term adverse environmental effects expected. Dredging operations will cause a temporary disruption with an increase in turbidity. The natural habitat in the area to be dredged and in the spoil area will be temporarily displaced.
